My name is Rebecca House. I started making jewelry In March, 2009. My daughter had recently married and moved to Tucson, AZ where the International Gem and Mineral Show is held every January/February. It is the largest show of its kind in the world! My daughter has a BFA in Jewelry so she was quite interested to see what they had to offer. The sheer size and scope of the show was astounding, so she suggested I come out and experience it for myself. Well, I had to buy beads, etc. "to help stimulate the economy" and then I was pretty much hooked. That was the beginning because then I had to make/sell jewelry to support my stone bead habit!
I started out making beaded earrings because the jewelry I wear personally is mostly earrings. I discovered a love of semi-precious gemstones and have narrowed my focus to jewelry made using stones and other natural materials. In order to make the larger stones/shells/wood into pendants I had to learn wire-wrapping, which is great fun for me! I like working with wire. It's very "forgiving", as I was told. I am learning to make necklaces, bracelets, brooches and rings, as well as earrings using wire components. So the piece of jewelry is often a combination of beads and wire.
I am a Christian so I want all that I do to be a testimony to Jesus Christ Who is my Lord and Savior, "the Pearl of great price". That's why my motto is "Jewelry from God's Creation." Of course, God created everything, so I can pretty much use anything I want in my jewelry! On the "Semi-precious Stones" page are bible verses that mention the various stones, metals and other materials I use in designing and making the jewelry pieces.
I donate 25% of my profit to charities such as the Wounded Warrior Project, Samaritan's Purse, the Salvation Army and the American Bible Society.
